Can I join a canoe expedition on my own?

Absolutely! Many people want to experience a multi-day canoe expedition but don’t have a paddling partner or a group of friends who can join them. Our scheduled expeditions bring together like-minded adventurers to share the journey. You can book as an individual and enjoy the experience with the rest of the group. Many people leave a trip with us having made friends for life!

Can I book with a friend or a partner?

Of course! You can book with a friend, partner or a couple of mates and join a scheduled trip together. You’ll share the adventure with other people on the trip, making it a great way to experience the wilderness together.

Do you offer private canoe expeditions for groups?

Yes. If you’d prefer an expedition exclusively for your own group, we can arrange private trips. There are ideal for groups of friends, families and stag/hen parties looking for something a little different. Get in touch to discuss your group and what you’d like to do with your preferred dates and we’ll do the rest!

Do I need previous canoeing experience?

We offer a range of trips that offer something to all ability levels. It helps if you have previously been on moving water and can perform basic canoe strokes such as a J-stroke or a draw. For those with no experience, we offer Introduction to Moving Water Skills Weekends where you will spend time with one of our guides learning how to manoeuvre a canoe a canoe on moving water with confidence. These skills weekends are customer-focused and adaptable to your level and are fantastic even the experienced paddler looking to uplevel their skillset. We offer a discount to those booking a skills weekend with one of our river trips. Contact us to find out more!

How physically demanding are the expeditions?

A multi-day canoe expedition is an active outdoor adventure. You’ll spend a significant part of each day paddling. You will also have to carry equipment to and from the water’s edge. There may even be a need to portage your boat and kit to avoid large water obstacles and at the end of each day, you will need to set up your own tent in changing conditions. The demands vary on the river, trip length and conditions so please contact us if you’re unsure whether a particular expedition is suitable for you. That said, we have had people join us on our trips from 8 to 78 years of age!

What is a typical day on a canoe expedition like?

Life on the river is so much more than paddling. Days are spent travelling through beautiful landscapes, exploring the river and enjoying the journey. In the evening, we find a suitable wild-camping spot, set up camp and enjoy a meal around the campfire where conditions and local regulations permit. Every expedition has its own character, and the river and weather help share the experience .
